When we tried to upgrade our SQLServer 7 SP2 to SQLServer 2000 we got an error when running messages.sql. ('Error running script: messages.sql (1)') After this the installation/upgrade stopped.
Now it is no longer possible to start SQLAgent. ErrorMessage: (000)SQLServerAgent cannot start because the instanceof the server() is not the expected instance(MSSQLSERVER)
When we want to connect via QueryAnalyzer we get the message: [Microsoft][ODBCSQLServerDriver][SQLSERVER]Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.sp_MShasdbaccess'
When we look at the properties of SQLServer the productversion = 8.00.194
Any ideas how to resolve these problems?

Haven't seen this. I will pass along to some others that have done more upgrades.

I think I saw this once, when something happened during the upgrade. I was in a hurry, so I just moved all the mdf's to a different folder, uninstalled then reinstalled...I think. Your data is still there. Just make a copy of the master.mdf before you do anything! It's easy enough to reattach everything once it's running if it comes down to that - I've got an article posted with some DMO code and there is a follow up that has some TSQL to do the same for all your mdf's at once.

Someone pointed out this being a bug. I'm installing the fix and let you know how it goes.
