Last Friday clients started receiving the intermittent error "A database error has occurred: Database error code: 10008. Select error: Possible network error. Bad token from SQL Server: Datastream processing out of sync".
The server (NT 4, SP 5, SQL 6.5.416) event log shows Error 17824:Unable to write to ListenOn connection '<server name", loginname 'xxx', hostname "..."
Any suggestions what to do about this?
TIA,
Bill Salkin

Addendum to “SQL 6.5: Unable to ListenON connection…”
Immediately below the “Unable to write to ListenON ….” error is the following error:
OS Error: 64 The specifed netwopk name is no longer available.”
All error messages are ODS errors.

I've seen variations of this - usually something weird happens when SQL first starts where it cant find the port. Restarting the service has fixed it the couple times I've seen it.

I have had this before. You should also have a look at your NT error logs it should provide you with more info.
