Introduction
Lukáš is undoubtedly the first to get up in the morning, you will meet Luky at JC in the early hours of the morning. So, when I came to the office earlier one day and chatted with Luky over coffee, I decided to share with you what I learned from Lukáš.
How were your beginnings at JC?
When I look back over the past 4 years at JC, there were more beginnings when I started from scratch. The first time, when I joined and was transitioning from another field. Petr Pařík took me under his wing and thanks to him I learned PowerShell and server administration. The second beginning for me was a PowerBI project. The third beginning was independent project management with a client and the fourth beginning for me was Microsoft Fabric. But I chose this beginning myself. No one told me to focus on Fabric, but I was interested myself. I was given free rein by the management of our company, I started studying Fabric and I believed that it could be an interesting technology in the future.
What positively surprised you at the beginning of the collaboration?
I was so excited from the interview itself and the selection process that I knew that JC was the company I wanted to work for. I told myself that if they didn’t hire me at JC, I wouldn’t be happy at any other company. I started at the same time as a more experienced, mediocre colleague, Honza, so I tried to keep up with him, and that forced me to move at a much faster pace. It was a challenge that I took on. I remember the first week in which I had the so-called Project 0 (note: our internal project for newcomers) and it was a very intensive study period for me. Every day I came home with something new that I had learned. Even though I came from a different field, I was still able to learn something very quickly.
What do you enjoy about JC to this day?
I enjoy the style of work. In my previous jobs, after a while, sometimes after half a year, sometimes after 2 years, I already knew what I would be doing next year. It was always the same. What I enjoy about JC is that I can always meet different clients, projects, technologies.
What was your biggest achievement within the JC?
My biggest success is that people at JC take Fabric for granted. Last year I came to our owners Tomáš and Jaro and said I wanted to try Fabric, and that’s how it started. Over the past year, we have developed a specialization in Fabric and were one of the first to organize FAIAD. We organized a Fabric meetup, successfully won presale and already have projects that we are running in Fabric. I’m glad that Fabric has become part of the company.
What is your vision for JC?
My vision is that I will lead Fabric technology at JC, that with the team we will lead Fabric projects and that we will continue to win new projects. And that we will continue to follow trends and keep up with the times.
You do a lot of things for the data community. You regularly publish two newsletters, train, teach and dedicate a lot of time to it. What motivates you?
I enjoy it. I feel good when I can help someone. It all started with newsletters at the S QL BootCamp in Brno in 2023. Until then, I had been sending my colleagues internally what the news was. Then I thought I could share it with everyone. And so the weekly newsletter started. When I was preparing for the DP-600 and came across interesting things, I also made a newsletter directly for the certification.
I met several people at JC who had very fond memories of your mentoring and how you shared your experiences with them. When we had a questionnaire at JC about who people go to most for help and advice, your name came up most often.
It happens quite often that someone catches me with a question and it is natural for me to always find time and help them. It was nice for me to watch how the roles changed. At first I went to Petr Pařík with a question and then gradually there was a turning point and people started coming to me. What I got from JC, I also give back.
Do you have an idea who could join the Fabric specialization team?
Someone who is enthusiastic. Anyone who wants to learn Fabric will learn it and I’m happy to help them. I myself am happy to learn something from anyone and I’m happy when we can move forward with each other. I appreciate the people in the team when they ask questions and when they have a desire to improve. And last but not least, I’m happy when we can play a FIFA tournament or do a joint challenge for weight loss, push-ups, walking stairs, whatever we can think of.
And while we’re on the subject of FIFA in the office, what are your other JOYs outside of work?
Children make me happy and sports in general. Football, which I play for the old guard, and netball. I like to play PlayStation at home, but there is less time than I need.

I have been working with MS SQL Server for several years. I enjoy both scripting and server administration. Joyful Craftsmen allowed me to deepen my knowledge of cloud solutions. I have extensive experience in data migration to Azure and I am also interested in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
