Have Grace

  • Ooh, I so feel this.

One I see all the time, and I'm sure you do too, is when traveling internationally, depending on your flights, blah, blah, blah, you end up in a new country, at a hotel, at 11AM in the morning. Guess what? The majority of hotels don't let you check in til 3PM. Sometimes you get in. Most times you don't. The number of people, who look to me like experienced travelers, who lose their ever-loving minds over this is staggering.

    Have grace indeed.

Our approach to this is to just pay for the previous night so we can check in when we arrive. This is especially helpful when your flight arrives at 7am as was the case when we flew from Doha to Sydney. That allowed us to have grace since we were not struggling with luggage in a hotel lobby while trying not to fall asleep for 8 hours.

As I've grown older, I find I have grace for people who deserve it but very little for those entitled jerks who try to make themselves happy at the expense of everyone else.

  • Thank you, Steve and Bob, for reminding me to have grace towards others who are having a rotten day. Like you said, I've no idea what went wrong to cause them to be acting badly. I know that I have had something go off and that has made me cross towards others. And those others didn't deserve my bad attitude. Great reminder, guys. Thank you.
