Hi All ,
I have issue restoring small database .
SQL version : SQL 2014
In the server , At first I took a backup of database ( bak file ) and compressed it . Then I copied ( standard copy ) to my local laptop from server , after that I copied back to that server . Unfortunately I am not able to restore the database .
I also copied the bak file to the other server which has higher SQL version , I got the same issue
The error message :
Msg 3241, Level 16, State 0, Line 1
The media family on device 'F:\SQLBackups\database.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family.
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
VERIFY DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Did you verify the database backup at the source server?

Trying doing it without compressing it. Backups are compressed by default ever since... 2014?... and zipping or tar or whatever, can affect the files.
