Windows 11 & sudden SSMS sorting nuisance

  • When I was still in Windows 10, I'd open up SSMS (version 18) and go to Object Explorer Details, where I would see the folders System Databases and Database Snapshots up at top and all the individual database names listed in alphabetically order (unless I sorted otherwise).

Now that I've upgraded to Windows 11, something strange has happened. The OED list is sorting everything, including those folders, alphabetically. It's driving me nuts.

Reset view doesn't do anything to change this.

Anyone know how I can get the old sorting back where the folders are listed up top and the individual DB objects are listed underneath them?

  • TBH, I'd call MS Support on this one.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • Probably a good idea.

    Anyone else have this problem?
