SQL AG with clustered File Server role

  Hi,

  We have a typical AG: 2 VMs running Failover Clustering. In general this all works as expected.

  We also have a File Server cluster role that is used to store some data that needs to be accessed by either node. This is a shared VHDS file attached to both VMs. If the file server role is on node1, then node1 sees the disk and node2 doesn't, and vice-versa.

  If this role comes online, it brings the AG role offline. I cannot work out why. One thing I have considered is that since only 1 node can use that disk at a time, it's confusing the AG role. There are no dependencies configured.

  Has anyone experienced this before?
