Pinned Tabs (Day 4)

Have you ever been working in SSMS where you need to frequently access one particular script, but you are spending most of your time in other scripts? Starting with SSMS 2016, you can pin a tab to your SSMS Query window pane to make it easier to go back to that script.

On the right side of each tab, is a pin icon. Clicking this will pin that tab to SSMS.

How this works depends on the options selected. Under the default configuration, SSMS will move this tab to the far left, and it will stay there. However, you can have all pinned tabs be in a separate row.

When the pinned tabs are in a separate row, this is how SSMS will look:
