Hi,
is it possible, to restore more t-log backups, after I restored the database?
We got a problem, and we had to restore the database, then check the table in the database. Maybe we did the point in time restore to early, and I'd like to restore some more t-log backups, without the restore of the full backup.
Is this possible?
I tried a lot, but currently I am not able to restore more t-log backups, after the database was online to check the table.
Thanks,
Kind regards,
Andreas

Did you check the "Restore ... with standby" option ?
BOL ref: RESTORE ... With Standby

The other method is "WITH NORECOVERY". But, people need to find and read the documentation to know of either option before they tackle the two most important things a DBA will ever do... BACKUP and RESTORE.
I forget who I first heard say it but it's absolutely true... "You don't need a backup plan... you need a restore plan" which, of course, includes backups.
There are a couple of lists of links at the bottom of the great link that Johan cited. IMHO, it's a "required" reading list for anyone charged with protecting data with Backups and Restores, even if you use "canned" code, like Ola Hallengren's great scripts. One of my favorite analogies for this would be "To be a auto-mechanic, you're going to need to know a whole lot more than just how to drive a car". 😀
