Using DNN (Distributed Network Name) for on-prem AOAG

  • Hi

we have a hybrid SQL estate between om-prem and Azure. It's been suggested that we should configure our AOAG's with DNN's both in Azure and on-prem so everything is using the same solution.

DNN's on Azure look to be a good solution but I can't see anything (apart from details of edition and CU you need) about using them on prem.

Is it a good or bad idea?

    Cheers

  • Thanks for posting your issue and hopefully someone will answer soon.

This is an automated bump to increase visibility of your question.

  • According to:

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/take-the-windows-azure-and-dnn-challenge-build-a-website-in-minutes/

DNN platform provides for flexibility and extensibility in developing/deploying .NET based applications.

I would test the DNN features to see if it meets your needs.

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply but that is the wrong DNN. The DNN you've linked to is a CMS platform. The one I'm interested in is a VIP that can route traffic to different cluster resrouces.

    Cheers

    Alex
