Could someone advise on the following design?
We have a 2-node cluster, Windows 2012, sitting in different Data Centres and different Subnets. The 3rd vote is a File Share Witness sitting on an IAAS VM in Azure....The question recently came on the following scenario
In the scenario where Node 1 was hosting a SQL AG and Node 2 was hosting the Cluster Core Resources. What exactly would happen if we lost connectivity between the 2 DC's (but both Maintained connectivity to Azure and the FSW)?
My initial thoughts are that the SQL AG group would fail from Node 1 to Node 2 and Node 1's Cluster service would stop as it cannot see the other node.
Is this accurate?

My only advice is to build a test cluster to a similar spec and try out the various failure scenarios. Repeat the tests a few times to see if the results are consistent. Regardless of what happens during these tests use the process to enhance your team's troubleshooting skills for when a real problem occurs.
Also ask yourself and management how it is a good idea to be still using W2012 as it is out of support. If something nasty did happen to your production system you will be lucky to get much help from Microsoft while you are using software of this vintage.
