  Hello

  Some of the devleopers need to run xp_cmdshell. These are the steps followed, still have the error as:

  "non-sysadmins have been denied permission to run cmdexec job steps without a proxy account"

  1. Created a windows group account

  2. Under credentials, added the account as proxy

  3. Under agent jobs, under CmdExec, added the proxy account and also the accounts which needs the access in the principals section

  4. created an agent job with type as CmdExec.

   

  No luck...Please guide what is missing now...

  to use xp_cmdshell within a SP this is NOT what you need.

  regarding the SQL Jobs e.g. using sqlcmd as the step type you are missing one step as per below

  on the job step you need to select the proxy account to use as "run as"
