Using CONTINUE

  • It's a funny thing how things sometimes work out.  I told myself that I'd spend a little time cruising the net after I was done with work today and then I'd look up the "Control of Flow" in SQL server for something I needed to do to make a "retry" bit of code to overcome an issue with trying to drop a file/filegroup combo during a backup.  I couldn't remember the exact word for what I was looking for and, whup!  Der i' 'tis!  In the QOD.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
