AG changed to Distributed state

  • Hi,

AG Listener does not get connected application due to Availability Group name (primary) changed to Distributed state automatically and second node Availability Group name resolving state, also both the nodes databases not synchronized.  Please suggest what could be reason and why automatically AG state changed?

Availability Group name - existing setting was Manual failover option and session time out 10 seconds. So I thought due to WAN link failure more than 10 seconds AG become Distributed state automatically in primary node. after network up does not resolving automatically it was in hanging state.

following alert message received from remote node.

DESCRIPTION:   A connection timeout has occurred on a previously established connection to availability replica 'Primary node' with id [055D58B5-55EA-49E7-812E-3D0FFE9105DB].  Either a networking or a firewall issue exists or the availability replica has transitioned to the resolving role.

DESCRIPTION:   The state of the local availability replica in availability group 'AG' has changed from 'SECONDARY_NORMAL' to 'RESOLVING_NORMAL'.  The state changed because the availability group state has changed in Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC).  For more information, see the SQL Server error log, Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) management console, or WSFC log.

following alert message received from primary node

DESCRIPTION:   The availability group database "<DBNAME>" is changing roles from "PRIMARY" to "RESOLVING" because the mirroring session or availability group failed over due to role synchronization. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.

How to overcome this situation feature? for resolving  just restarted node then WFC started and AG is online and listener get connected to application. after that i did changes in AG make it automatic mode failover and session time changed to 20 seconds.

    Thanks.
