Nice article,
I did something similar a few years ago, though I did it slightly different.
I used a linked server to migrate the data into SQL, then used PowerShell with SMO to export the blobs.

Thanks for taking the time to read the article.
I can see linked servers doing the job as well. But I used SSIS so I could filter out the errored records in a separate data set and process them separately.
