Hi everyone,
I have successfully installed SQL Server 2014, but I can't open SSMS. I get this error message:
Title > "Microsoft Visual Studio Isolated Shell Environment"
Message > "Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application."
Here's what I've tried so far:
Installing Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated), Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) SP1, then repairing the SQL Server install.
Uninstalling Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated), Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) SP1, then repairing the SQL Server install.
Removing the "xx_Config" in the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > SQL Server Management Studio)
Logging on as a different user.
I've exhausted everything I could think of and still can't get SSMS to open. If it helps, I currently have Visual Studio 2015 Community installed on my computer, and that works without any issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Martin

It's ironic how once you post something, you figure out what the problem is.
It was as simple as making sure all the Services (Services.msc) were running (name begins with SQL). Two weren't running, so I started both of those services, and Management Studio launched perfectly!
Hopefully this will help someone else who has also been banging their head against the wall.

Probably it is because you have accidently uninstalled VS2012 and may have uninstalled a VS Shell.
