Hi,
2 days ago the production sql server service restarted automatically. There is much information either from eventviewer or errorlog. But from 3rd party tool, there was hight cpu usage before the service crash.
I ran dbcc against to the user database . It ran succefully
Again the problem occured but there is one msg from event viewer. No high cpu usage at this point but occured around same time just 15-20 min difference for previous crash
Error msg from Event Viewer
Exception happened when running extended stored procedure 'xp_servicecontrol' in the library 'xpstar.dll'. SQL Server is terminating process 259. Exception type: Win32 exception;

What are the specs for the server? Memory configurations?
😎
Suggest you start by applying the latest service packs and CUs, any reason for not having the server fully patched?
