I've noticed for months now that every time I post a response to a discussion, on the first attempt I always get a message back to the effect of 'Did you really want to do that?'. Then if I try again, it goes through. This happens not just randomly but every time. I'm on Windows 10 using the standard Edge browser. I don't get this when posting on other sites and forums.

I've noticed this too. For me, I usually get that error if I wait too long to click on "Submit" after loading the page. Like if I load the page, and start on my reply but don't actually hit "Submit" for an hour (or more sometimes), then that error pops up. If I open the page and reply within a few minutes, it seems to not pop up.
The above is all just my opinion on what you should do.
As with all advice you find on a random internet forum - you shouldn't blindly follow it. Always test on a test server to see if there is negative side effects before making changes to live!
I recommend you NEVER run "random code" you found online on any system you care about UNLESS you understand and can verify the code OR you don't care if the code trashes your system.

I only get that error occasionally. It may have to do with whether or not someone posted while you were typing or waiting.
There are been times where no matter how many times I resubmit, it gives me the same error and I ultimately have to copy from my submittal and paste to a new post. Just like in the really old days before the many changes that have occurred on this site, if I'm working on a long or complicated post, I do it in a word processor with regular saves first. There's nothing more frustrating than to work on a post for more than a minute or two and have an unrecoverable error occur.
Ok... just remembered who I'm talking to so I apologize for that micro-lecture... You know the old drill, Rick... you're older than I am (I think). 😀

Hey, Jeff, lecture away. I just thought maybe it was me.
Yeah, I'm the old guy, maybe the oldest active on here. I'll be hitting 79 next month. Any of you guys beyond that?
And I'm still actively writing code and learning SSIS for myself all the time. Doing DOS batch command files that call two commercial applications to export 78 years of historical data, things my Dad started for me, from 40 archive files for import to my own database. Today knocked out two FOR EACH containers to find and process certain files in a directory. Also just did an 9 page SQL process that does multiple update queries on a temp table of 1.3 million rows of text data, using nested text function calls in about eight updates to subsets of the data to identify, clean and prep the data for parsing into relational tables. And the cleaning-formatting all happens in less than 30 seconds. Just got to love that SQL and SSIS.
And now it's merlot time with my sweetheart.

You've got this "youngster" beat. I won't be 70 until the fall of this year and probably won't retire. Like I tell people, "This is the most fun I've ever had sitting down and they pay me to have this kine of fun? Why would I give that up"?
It's funny a funny thing you brought up about SSIS. You teaching yourself to use it better and I continue to teach myself on how to avoid it altogether. 😀
Fun stuff for both of us!
Here's to you and yours and I hope the only problems you suffer in life are with SSIS. 🙂
