Hi there,
I am going to set up a log shipping in Production environment. Just want to get input from smart computer genius here.
Question is, what recovery mode should I pick in prod environment during log shipping and why?
plz don't say it 'depends'. (Just tell me what have you been doing?)
My database is 98 GB big and expecting to grow 500 GB in 6 months.
Thank you

It depends.
Do you need to read the secondary? For example, offloading reports. If so, standby. If not, no recovery.
It's got nothing to do with what other people do. It's just about what you need and what you're trying to do.

What are your reasons for setting up log shipping? Purely for DR or for off loading reporting? If you are thinking of running reporting even off the secondary know that it is still a pain in the arse. I've found it easier to just do a nightly restore of a nightly full backup (added advantage of testing every nightly full backup!). If this doesn't meet your reporting requirements and you need more realtime, i still think there are better ways then standby LS secondarys.

It is for DR purpose
