SSIS and Sqlserver

    could you please provide some info on the below

    what will be the roles and responbilities for a production support job in

    in SSIS and Sqlserver

  • It depends on the organisation size, number of employees, the support structure in place, but I would imagine some/all of these will be a part of the role

    Morning Routine

    Checking Overnight Jobs have run

    Checking Backups have run

    First line support for failures (what failed and why did it fail)

    Reporting/logging the incident up to the next level

    Midmorning-Afternoon

    Fielding Calls from users who are having problems

    Maybe Adding new users/set up jobs

    Running DB update scripts provided by developers/DBA's.

    It could be as simple as answering calls and logging it into a support system for the second line support to investigate especially in a large organisation.

    It might be more involved if its a smaller company, difficult to say.
