suppose the currnet drive of backup is removed and assigned with same drive letter is the scheduled backup in the drive executes???

  • HI,

1.suppose the currnet drive of backup is (N:Drive 100 Gb ) removed from cluster and

2.assigned with same drive letter (N:Drive 200 Gb ) cluster

    3. is the scheduled backup in the drive executes??? in the drive which is added now (N:Drive 200 Gb ) in the place of previous (N:Drive 100 Gb)

    4. is it required to reconfigure the Backup maintenance plans ?

    Thanks

  • you are probably in good shape.

if the expected directory structure is there, like if you were backing up to N:\SQLServer\Backups, no problem.

if the folders are missing, it will fail. in that case, you'll need to modify your maint plans accordingly.

SQL doesn't care too much about the specific hardware, as long as it has space and is named the same.(N: drive for example)
