cross domain report

  • hi

    I have an SSRS report...

works fine in the UK on our domain (EUR)

have created two global (which er means on a network, not the globe!) network groups for EUR and NY (New York)

have created a universal group (which means Earth and not the universe!) network group containing the two global groups

and the two people in the NY group, A and B...

it works for A and not B

and I have no idea why. could someone give me a list of things to check?

    thanks in advance

  • Any particular error messages? What exactly is not working for B that is working for A? Do you have remote errors enabled on the SSRS server to get more detailed messages?

no error messages, just a blank report

and that's what's not working for B, the report is blank

remote errors: short answer = no

long answer, I've just switched that on, where do the errors appear? in the Event Viewer?

  • No remote errors display in the webpage of SSRS. So instead of it saying Error cannot connect, it gives more details as to why it cannot connect for example.

Blank report you say, what browsers do they use? If its IE then its a different problem, but if its something like Chrome or Safari then thats the problem. Firefox renders reports ok, but SSRS only truly supports IE.

oh, that is an extremely good point

i had assumed B was using IE, it's damn difficult no to across the company, but looking at her screenshot, it isn't

    ok, let me ask her

    thanks

  • that's it!

    she was on Google Chrome

now I've tried installing Chrome here in London and it's forbidden, so I'm not sure how she's done it in New York, but she has, and it works OK on IE

    many many thanks
