Compatibility Levels

    I have a DB with an uwanted compatibility level. The quickest way to determine if its associated applications raise problems if the compatibility level is altered would be to alter the compatibility level and then test.

    Can anyone tell me if changing the compatibility level on a database is reversible? I guess what I want to know is not so much "can it be done?" but rather "if a change were made, is there any permanent effect?"
