Greetings all 🙂
So I have a new (well newly installed be re-purposed server) server that is my 'sandbox' server for development.
I have installed 2008 developer edition on here as it does not need to interact with anything, and is not used in production in any shape or form. I know there are a few tweaks to dev and express editions to get outside connectivity say if I wanted to connect to it via ssms from another computer. All that is working well.
The one problem I DO have however, is in SSIS I can connect to our as400 core server, but SSIS errors out with a rather generic not very useful error message of 'there is no error message'. It will not allow me to preview the data as well in the oledb source connector.
The odd part is I can connect to the data, it recognizes the columns, and puts it out for mapping, but will not load the data.
The additional odd part is I can create a linked server object to the as400 in SSMS that will allow me to write queries against the as400 with no problems.
I figure this must be a limitation of some sort of Developer edition, but I can't seem to find any data regarding this on google.
Any suggestions?
