We got bunch of production servers in Hyper-V environment. The OS is Windows Server 2008 R2. However we installed SQL Server 2008. I would like to upgrade them to SQL Server 2008 R2. I googled on it and collected bunch of information.
I was wondering any one has done this upgrade? If you did can you share your experiences?
Thanks,
Satish

Yes I have, it is fairly easy on non-clustered servers.

We do not have any clusters yet. However we are planning to set it up. Hopefully it should be after upgrading to R2.
Is this a free upgrade or need to pay?

R2 is a new version, you will need to purchase new licences.
