I have been receiving sporadic errors saying:
DESCRIPTION:BackupDiskFile::OpenMedia: Backup device 'G:\model\model_backup_2010_12_19_234505_7314495.bak' failed to open. Operating system error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.).
On my system db's every few nights at midnight (when the all user db backups start, but also the every 15 minute system db backups run)
It happens for model, msdb, and master. The backup still completes fine, but I am wondering why this is happening? It appears to be only happening to the system db's and always at midnight. But like I said, they are still completing fine, even when that error is thrown (severity 16)

Is it potentially trying to do a verify on the backup and the backup to tape is reading it at the same time? Serious guess so take it with that in mind. Might be worth checking with the tape backup schedule though and if they coincide that would be a good place to start looking.
