What is the accepted method for citing BOL in a presentation?

  • I'm giving a presentation on T-SQL at a conference next month. I quote the syntax in BOL in many slides. I want to cite my source appropriately.

  • I would quote the related msdn website.

    AFAIK, websites are allowed as references.

    e.g. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms186734(v=SQL.90).aspx as a reference for the ROW_NUMBER() syntax.

    I would copy the website together with a date information for future refernce.

    The site shown above currently shows "Updated: 17 July 2006" but this may change any time...

  • I've seen this two ways. One is you can add a URL (hot or not) at the bottom of the relevant slide in small print as a credit.

    Or you can post a couple of slides at the end that have all the links.I think as long as you credit BOL when you speak, as well as have it in writing, you are OK.

  • Thank you both for your responses.
