Hi all,
I have installed Sql2K5 EE onto XP Pro, sp3. Now, only the client tools have installed, but no SQL Services are present. Nor was I asked during installation for login accounts in which to run them.
I've checked in Ctrl Panel >> Services, and indeed, no SQL services listed at all. Also checked Explorer, the '90' file reports the presence of the Adventureworks mdf file and all folders you would generally expect.
However, Configuration Manager reports no instance of SQL to connect to, it shows my local machine of course, but can't connect to it nor does it offer any option to start the SQL service upon connection, which of course means no SQL Server!!
Anyone have any ideas?

SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition will not run on XP Pro. What you need on XP Pro is the Developers Edition. Same functionality as EE but costs about $50.00 USD.

Don't think my wife would approve. 😉
