Are you comparing with Oracle?
What exactly do you want to do when u say you want to archive?
Pls elaborate more on it so that somebody here can help..

Hi Ram,
Please write in detail with this current set of lines we are not able to understand what is required here.
Otherwise yes in SQL Server we cannot archive the backups. I believe you are comparing it with RMAN feature of Oracle.
If this is the case then I will suggest you to wait for SQL 2011 might be this option will be there ;).
