Filestream column and network paths

    Long time inhaler and first time smoker.

    I am working with this new file stream data type and would like to know if it is possible to save or paths to a network file server rather than on the same machine as the sql server instance ?

    Searching for an answer, but I don't think so. This is a db container, like other db containers, so it typically needs to be local.

    there are options to integrate with some of the image storage servers that are designed to handle large volumes of binary files, but I think that's API access, not SMB.

    I would like to be able to do this as well - put the Filestream data on another server. Any updates to know if this is possible or not? I've tried setting the Filestream path using both the UNC and a mapped drive, but I get a generic error.

    Hi,

    the Solution for this, is to use ISCSI. I tried it and it works.
