My query is related to logshipping
Scenario 1
I stopped all services on primary, secondary and monitor server and restarted after 10 hours.
Secondary database was out of sync after that and log shipping never came back in sync again.
Scenario 2
I stopped all services on primary, secondary and monitor server and restarted after 10 hours.
Secondary database was out of sync initially but after the log shipping backup job ran on the primary server the logshipping was back in sync again.
Please note:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
> Log shipping backup job on primary server was running successfully in Scenario 1 as well
> Primary server in both cases is acting as monitor server as well
DBA Experts
------------
Could you please explain the reason for this behaviour. How could I check this marked difference in both the scenarios. Please provide your thoughts on the same.
Thanks in advance for all inputs
Regards,

any errors from the restore job in scenario 1?
did anyone take any manual tran log backups during those 10 hours in scenario 1? (check the errorlog)

Scenario 1
This is the message on the error log continously related to the restore job.
The log shipping secondary database server\instance.dbname has restore threshold of 45 minutes and is out of sync. No restore was performed for 569 minutes. Restored latency is 31 minutes. Check agent log and logshipping monitor information.
Scenario 2
Same error like in first case related to restore job. But after the success of backup job, the restore completed successfully.
I am confused as to why this didn't happen in the first case.

no messages about incorrect lsn's or an earlier log being required?

There's not enough information here. What was the difference between the scenarios or was this just two different tests?
I could guess that the first time it's possible that your secondary came online. If it started first, along with the monitor, was the database brought online with recovery?
You'd have to dig in more to see the state of the servers.

I was testing both the scenarios.
Thanks for the response. I will dig in more to see if I am missing anything.
