Hello SSC,
I have been a SQL developer for close to 20 years. I know some DBA tasks like, backup restore, installation, granting access to users, etc. I have been trying to find a beginners book that can slowly walk me through all of the common administration tasks. I think like a developer, so topics like threading, buffer pools, plan cache, and data cache are not my strong suite.
I interviewed for a DBA role and did pretty well. I regurgitated articles that I read to get me past the DBA questions, but if I do receive an offer, I obviously do not want to crash and burn. Does anyone know of a good beginner administration book, or can you point me in the right direction? Perhaps provide a good starting point?
Stay safe my SSC friends and thank you in advance for the guidance.

I haven't read this new edition, but all these authors know what they are talking about.
If you want to know the internals, not sure there's a better books than the internals: https://amzn.to/3oAf9IS A bit dated, but lots of this is still relevant.
