I started to add a daily coping tip to the SQLServerCentral newsletter and to the Community Circle, which is helping me deal with the issues in the world. I’m adding my responses for each day here.
Today’s tip is to talk kindly to yourself like you would to someone you love.
The power of words can be incredible. I find far, far too many people discount words for actions. They also discount the impact of their words.
Perhaps this is one reason I find most people to be a worse version of themselves online.
In any case, one thing that a couple decades of parenting has taught me is to provide support with responsibility and accountability. I give kind words at the same time I demand things. I recognize the value of recognizing the good, even when other things go wrong.
For me, I didn’t get enough done this weekend, but I did get some things done, including some relaxing time. I need to remember to appreciate what I did, even while I may demand more from myself in the future.
