standalone server

    Hi

    I am using SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Is there a standalone version of this? I want to make a standalone toolkit which will contain the SQL Server binary in addition to other files - I want the user to be able to double-click the exe (or run a batch file) and the server is up and running, without the need for a full fledged install

    Is that possible?

    SQL Server Express is about as stand alone as you get with MSSQL. That said, you cannot just run the database without the full installation.

    I have seen it embedded within other applications, but the major components have to be installed. Not sure what you are hoping to accomplish here, but good luck!
