I did spend some time on this forum looking around for other options people have used in AWS to get around SQL server licensing by using AWS native solutions and provide HA capabilities. I wanted to get some feedback if anyone has used it and is it reliable for example like AWS FSX?

To "get around licensing"?
No. You either have a licensed instance installed on a VM, or, you use the AWS RDS SQL Server instance, and the cost of RDS includes the licensing. RDS has HA capabilities built in. Turn them on, pay for them, and you have gotten around other kinds of licensing within SQL Server.
I sure hope that no one will help you "get around licensing" here on the site. That's what we call breaking the law. It's considered to be a bad thing in polite company.

Hello Grant,
Appreciate the feedback. I probably didn't phrase the question correctly, i wrote down what i had in my mind. I meant to ask " what AWS technologies/services that i could use to get the same HA that AG provides so that i can reduce my enterprise edition license to standard edition", i completely understand the benefits i will loose downgrading to standard edition. For the one application i am looking at, main focus is to reduce sql server licensing cost without loosing HA capabilities. which is really the biggest factor for me and many others.
No intention of "breaking the law" or finding any loop holes, apologize if it came out like that.

Ah, cool.
No, I'm not aware of any way you can do anything with data within the VMs other than what is normally provided. You'd have to move to RDS to start to get interesting options.
