Someone recently told me that from SQL Server 2017 you are only allowed to install one instance of SQL Server reporting services on an individual server.
I am no reporting services expert but I believed in the Reporting config manager you were able to select different instances you wished to connect to on a single server that we're on a specific box but this is apparently not the case any more can you confirm?

Yes that's correct, since the installer for RS was split from the main installer you can only perform 1 instance of SSRS per server.
If you try and re-run the installer again you get the option to upgrade, repair or uninstall.
Makes sense in a way as you should only be installing one component on a server, appreciate that can complicate licensing for some organisations, but from a performance perspective, they should all be separated so each can have its own set of dedicated resources.
