Am I allowed to point out that the use of the "Dense" results is in contradiction to the generally preferred, and advised, approach, where a gap equal to one less than the number of shared placements is always added after each rank position.
Might I ask anyone who knows about this: when, or in which disciplines, is this "Dense" ranking approach used?
Thanks
Kenneth Spencer

Thanks for this question, but is the ranking 1, 2, 2, 4, 5 given in the explanation correct? For the default SKIP, I would expect the ranking 1, 2, 2, 5, 4.

The question asks how to get the "3". DENSE will give this.
