i will show you how to do multiple versions of sql server installations using single scripts with all best practices baked in, this session will first discuss process framework, prerequisites and then followed up with script review and live demo of installing diff version of sql servers along with diff os using single line command which ensure environment consistency and optimal performance across dev/stage/qa/production.

you’ll take-away script to install different versions of sql server on diff os systems with utmost ease. this script allows anyone in it to install sql systems with best practices baked into it which ensure all sql installation can be streamlined and with a single line command can install any of the below combinations:

• windows 2008r2/2012/2012r2

• sql 2016ctp2.3/2014/2012/2008r2 (enterprise/standard/developer editions)

• any sql service pack/ cumulative updates / hotfix combination

• vmware/hyper-v/azure vm/aws ec2/physical servers

• implement best practices and configuration based on available resources for dedicated sql server environments

you’ll learn how to:

• install different versions of sql server on supported os systems, and readymade scripts to do so

• install sql server systems following best practices and new default which makes more sense

• ensure consistent sql server support environments help improve dba productivity and reduce production issues

• easily add new sql server configurations to support new applications and new versions of sql servers

• identify support situations where different types of applications need dedicated sql servers
