Script to help check performance and bottle necks

  • Hello SSC and Happy Friday!

I am looking for an "all in one" script that can help me identify bottlenecks and performance issues on my SQL Servers. We have versions ranging from 2008R2 - 2016. I have been using Activity Monitor, sp_who, sp_who2, sp_who active, etc. But I find the results are difficult to understand. I can identify blocking/locking and things of that nature, but I am looking for a script that gives me only the relevant information that I need.

I am new to this DBA thing, I have been a SQL developer for over 12 years and switched to DBA so I can remain competitive in an ever changing industry.

  • Are you familiar with this stuff?

I've found it helpful, despite being a developer rather than a DBA.

  • Hi Phil,

Nice to hear from you. We are actually waiting for approval on this, but for now I am looking for something quick and dirty.

Thanks for your responses as usual. Hope all is well!
