One question I have is what are the advantages of using the command-line approach? We use VS 2017 for both front-end and back-end development and haven't found ourselves in a situation when we needed anything more than it has to offer in terms of Git support. Granted we only have three people using our repositories. Unless you really stuff up I don't see any advantages.
