Management Studio message: "This file has been modified outside of the source editor"

    When working in a .sql file inside of the editor for Management Studio, I

    repeatedly receive the following message (file resides on a network drive

    that only I use):

    “This file has been modified outside of the source editor.   Do you want to

    reload it and lose the changes made in the source editor?”

    I cannot find a way to disable this feature.  Any assistance would be greatly

    appreciated.  No one else is using the file.

    You can't turn it off. Apparently you have something that's modifying a stat value on the server side, and triggering the "file has been modified" message.

    If you are working from a network drive that has backups running during the day it may very well trigger this message. It all depends on the backup software you are using. Try moving your projects to a local drive and see if it eliminates the message.
