Can anyone steer me to a source for SQL Server 2005 best practices?
As a newly-hired DBA working with a handful of developers, I am writing up SQL Server 2005 Best Practices policies for my company. Best practices have never been documented here before.
After spending a lot of time researching, I do not seem to be able to find a single source for Best Practices, like a manual or an online site. There does not even seem to be a standard set of subject headings.
The topics I am currently are Backup and Recovery, Security, Performance, Configuration, Installation, Data Migration, Change Management, Storage, and Documentation.
Thanks, Mike

I doubt this will give you everything you might need, but it will certainly get you started. These are Microsoft's Best Practices as implemented by their own consultants.

Thanks very much Grant. I can use that info.
I just assumed that Microsoft would have published a generic but comprehensive Best Practices document or link, and that, even after searching for a few hours, I simply could not find it.
I will be interested in seeing other postings to this thread.
