Currently we use Symantec (Veritas) In-Depth for SQL Server for our Performance monitoring on our servers along with using Profiler. The tool has worked great for us in finding poorest performing statements, where waits are coming from, hardware stats, etc., but the maintenance for it has not been the most ideal. I now have the task of looking around the market to see what other tools are available. I'm looking for recommendations from other DBA's as to what they are using. We don't want a general dashboard tool, but instead would like to have a tool that we can drill down on the statement that was run, analyze the indexes it used, hardware conditions at that time, etc. All positive and negative feedback on products would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been using Spotlight on SQL Server from Quest Software for several months as my main monitoring tool. It provides some of the drill down capabilities that you are looking for. I have been very pleased with it.

I just started using Performance Analysis by Quest 3 or 4 weeks ago - it provides a great deal of information on specific queries users are running. I've been able to hone in on those queries which are running for long periods, those causing locking problems or poor ad-hoc queries generated by the users.
Good luck,
Harley

I've been using Dm from Idea for about 6 months. It seems to provide the information your looking for
