    Always On

The SQL Server Always On Storage Solution program is something that popped up in the news this week. I guess it's been around for a little over six months, but since I'm not a high end storage guy, I guess it's slipped by me.

This is a way for storage vendors to setup systems that Microsoft sees are high end, highly available and suited for SQL Server. It's important to note, however, that this isn't some certification like the HCL. Instead its kind of like a reference framework. It is good in that it gives us customers something to look at when selecting a storage solution and a way to see if the designs we're presented with are in line with this framework.

This week there were also quite a few security items. The issues with Apple and Adobe should remind us that security is a constant battle and no platform or software is safe from attack. Along with various security problems of data disclosure and articles, this is a good reminder for the year ahead to be vigilent.

Lastly this week there's a fantastic post on dynamic SQL from SQL Server developer and security expert Raul Garcia. That one is definitely worth your time to read.

  • hmmm ... its been around for a little over 6 months ... curious that there are no links to vendor whitepapers yet unless I am not looking in the right place ...
