Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator

    I have 2 node cluster.

    Node1 : Other DBs

    Node 2: DBs for application which uses DTC.

    Do we need to cluster MSDTC? or can we have local DTC setting configured on both nodes and that should be good during failovers?

    Prior to Windows 2008 you had to cluster MSDTC but it was re-architected starting with Windows 2008 so that it runs locally even on a cluster. There is a blog post on Microsoft's site explaining this if you want more info about it:
