Hello to all,
I have one user as full granted and another one as a read-only user to SQL server.
The first user can work correctly with the default sql assistant, but the second user isn't capable to use sql assistant.
Is there a permission issue, and if so, how can it be fixed?
Thank you.

What's the sql assistant?

The embedded assistant in SQL, since version 2012 and above.

I don't know what this is either. Can you identify the exact menu options you are referring to?

It''s a third party product, not a Microsoft product. What are the errors and what is the user trying to do?

I don't mean the third party product, I am talking about the embedded intelligence to SQL.

Hm,
I am confused. Do you mean this function in the SSMS:
IntelliSence enabled ?
I didn't hear something like "embedded intelligence" with a SQL Server.
Have you got a link or screenshot or something like this?
Best regards,
Andreas

Yes, it's the IntelliSense assistant.
It seems that it's working with a user that owes full access to the SQL server, but not with a user that has read-only access.
I suppose it has to do with something else and occasional, but I am just asking if someone knows in case it has to do with the type of permission the user has to the server.

Hi,
here are some usefull tips:

Have you got an unused linked server?
Or do you use different version of SSMS?
Kind regards,
Andreas

I don't know what permissions are needed, but the docs seem to indicate this works on your connection to SQL Server. I'm guessing the OE connection, but not sure.
If you have other questions or issues, please refer to this as intellisense. It's not a SQL assistant or SQL intelligence.

My apologies. I had no idea that SQL Assistant meant Intellisense in SQL Server Management Studio. Try the troubleshooting documentation:
Troubleshooting IntelliSense
