We are currently specing two new machines for SQL2005
These are dedicated to SQL - 1 prod, 1 dev - and they will replace two existing SQL2k services based on 2000 Server (prod) and XP (dev)
The DB application is low transaction, high volume. Many used for OLAP.
I can't think of any advantages of going with server2003, but I just wanted to see what others felt?
I suppose the other issue might be to wait for Vista, but I'm concerend about the maintainence that will accompany a new release.
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated...

XP is designed to be a desktop OS. W2003 is designed to be a Server OS.
Using XP for application development is fine, but the servers used for system testing upwards should have the same W2003 OS as your production box.
