Hi -
I'm a little bit of a novice with SQL and typically only use management studio for analysis - so if my question is a little basic/obvious I apologise.
I have being trying to set up a connection to a linked Teradata server - and I think I have been successful I can see all the tables/views on the linked server in object explorer (although can't see columns etc. in the object viewer for the linked server).
However - when I try to execute a query - I'm getting the following error message. I was hoping someone might be able to explain what it means and if can resolve it.
In Black Text
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "TD" returned message "Method is not supported by this provider.".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "TD" returned message "[Teradata][ODBC Teradata Driver] Table qualifiers not supported by data source".
In Red Text
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "TD" reported an error. The provider does not support the necessary method.
Msg 7311, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES" for OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "TD". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used.

Hi there,
"The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server..." Are you using the “OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers”? MSDASQL is a very old interface, it's either deprecated or on its way out. Teradata has their own ADO.NET data providers.
