Extended Procedures Problem

I am trying to add an extended stored procedure to the master db. I have tried Enterprise Manager, OSQL, and Query Analyzer. It doesn't matter what xp I try to add or how I try to add it, I get the error: "There is already an object named '' in the database." But there is no object!
I can add the same xp to any other SQL Server, other than the one I want. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance.

Do you have some info on the sql server version,service pack & hotfixes?

SQL Server Version is 2K SP3. But, the article you posted addressed my exact problem. I implemented the work around...and voila! It works now.
