Hello, I've hade a leave of 4 years and back in business I'm updating my knowledge from SQL Server 7/2000 to 2005..
During installation of SQL Server 2005 I didn't install the samples DB, Adventure Work.. When doing this afterwards I didn't attach DB and failed doing so after that installation... therefore I uninstalled all dealing with sample DB to be able to install with attach this time... but, alas, I get the following message:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Setup
------------------------------
SQL Server Setup cannot write sample databases to the folder you specified because it contains databases from a previous installation. To continue, move the databases, or specify a different folder for installation. Then run SQL Server Setup again.
------------------------------
How do I proceed? I cannot find where the "old" DB is so I cannot move nore delete it... what to do?

the database is in the folder where the rest are kept.when sql 2005 is being installed as is now the practise by ms, they put some of the sample files on to your hard disk.
so check in the data folder where you installed your sql 2005.
you can then proceed with deletion or attachment which ever will work for you.
